Normally I don't splurge on myself, but once in awhile I get the opportunity to. As some of you may know from reading my blog my husband and I have gone through horrible financial difficulties due to his open heart surgery.
Now we have come to a place; where we are not fully recovered, but functioning at a more of a normal life. There of course is still huge hospital debt hanging over our heads, but we pluck away at it like a chicken scratches for feed. Eventually someday maybe it will all get paid off. Not that we are neglecting it, but we are not making it our main focus either. We need to live and not stress about all of that anymore; I hope that makes sense. So if I make a few extra bucks here and there I have been splurging on us instead of giving it all away to bills that may never get paid off. Now I know it isn't exactly the biblical thing to do, but they get their dues, and well once in a while I need to feel some retail therapy.

I don't buy anything big and fancy, even getting a yummy smelling candle makes me feel good. But I just want to feel the freedom of splurging on myself every now and then. God has blessed us tremendously, and keeps doing so every single day. I feel very comforted by Him even when the collectors from the hospital call or people that want the rest of Kayla's college tuition paid....eventually it will get taken care of. Peck, peck away just like a little chick.

Also some of you may have read where we had a few cars repo'd in the misdt of it all as well. My heart has longed for my old Landcruiser back; trust me I know it is just a thing....but I am only human and just knew someday I would get another one back. And sure enough we were blessed with one almost identical, but yet better than the one we had. Paid in full...no payments, no repo man can come take it away. I love how God works, even with petty little things in life that we should never ever fret about. We were perfectly content with what we had, and were happy with waiting until we could afford something to pay cash for. Craigslist people, can have some super great deals!! But I like to think I see God's footprints, handprints and everything else in it all. Only a miraculous deal like this could have been handed to us by God, I truly believe that. Stay faithful, stay with Him, He never leaves you behind; even in the mud of life you can see Him. I had never experienced that before; I always was such a Debbie Downer, but through it all I never let go..and always will stay still...and breathe...and stay faithful to God. He isn't about just asking for stuff, He is about love, and holding on to those who are faithful to Him, but He never lets go of those who aren't, they just don't know that yet. Been there, done that. It's just important for me to recognize that when blessings of stuff come along, it is about Him, not me or what I have done. It has taken me a very long long time to finally understand that. We are still taking only one day at a time and never forget where each little crumb to peck comes from.
