Good Morning! 

I am trying to figure out this morning what color I want to paint my newly gained church pew.  Or maybe just strip it down to the original wood might an option.

I think Mr. Tigger doesn't care what it looks like just as long as I don't mess with his spot.  He is very territorial and is most grateful I aquired this pew for him.

It's been a quiet morning; time to sit, reflect and ponder.  I love the subtle morning sun.  Now it's time to sew and paint and sew and paint.  Enjoy your day!

art wall & fall

My wall is starting to fill up with originals, I think it may be time to sell some of these.  Or have one of these cool cabinets built to store them in. 

I was reading Bruce Mau's Incomplete Manisfesto for Growth this morning and it has so many inspiring ideas, it's worth a read for you especially if you need a little inspiration to get started for the day with all the ideas that might be swirling around in our head.

For instance;

Stand on someone’s shoulders. 
You can travel farther carried on the accomplishments of those who came before you. And the view is so much better.

Not a bad idea to be inspired by others accomplishments, isn't that what drives us forward sometimes to try and succeed at our own desires?  I am always looking upon accomplishments of others and love to hear the stories of how they got where they are.  But the most important ones to me are those who stand on the shoulders of Christ to see where He may carry them. 

Lots of work to be done today with the smell of autumn wisping through the windows.  It's chilly but smells so heavenly, and it helps with the grape juice I am making for my jelly.  That smell always reminds me of fall when the grapes are harvested.  One of my favorite childhood memories; along with candy corn and apples. 


Although all I really want to do is stand in the middle of my trees and look up; the colors are so beautiful.  You are just blanketed with warm rays of gold.  I hope you are enjoying fall colors and smells where you are.

Worked at the schools this week; the kids really can wear me out sometimes.  I have been called so many nice names like stupid, bitch, etc. ~ wow, kids in this area are so lovely..not!  I think parents need to be more accountable for their children's actions at school, just my thoughts.  If it were up to me I would fine them or something, they really need to start stepping up and paying attention.  Some say it is because we live in such a low income area.  I say you can be poor and have good morals, being low income or poor or minority is not the issue.

My diet really has been bad lately.  I said it was because I was battling this awful cold and couldn't taste anything; so I keep shoving food in my mouth.  My son-in-law asked me if I was full; apparently I don't have that switch sometimes.  Halloween candy is my biggest culprit; but hey I am the one buying it, so what's a girl to do.

My sweet mom had her 85th birthday and I painted the little illustration above for her happy birthday card.  She had a wonderful birthday full of birthday wishes on her Facebook page; and we gave her a little dinner party complete with a yummy cake that my daughter made.  I ♥ buttercream frosting!

Feeling really blessed by the Lord lately.  We feel so relaxed and grounded and at peace.  I continue to read my Bible everyday and just try to absorb His words.  My favorite devotionals are here, here, and here.  I keep a prayer journal, and was reading some prayers from six years ago and was so pleasantly surprised to see that God really answered so many of those prayers, and I didn't even really pay attention.

So thankful and blessed to have Kayla and Tohny here with us for awhile.  Our favorite thing is to snuggle up in our favorite spots in front of the tv, and watch very old scary movies.  Love that!

I also really love perfume and shoes and clothes ~ my weaknesses.  Every week I watch Project Runway and so want to grab a sketchbook and make my own designs.  I wish I could run to Mood for fabric and have access to a Piperlime wall!!!  When I was young that was my desire to work in fashion and design clothes, I even started out in college for a degree in fashion.  I made it as far as working for a department store.  Someday I may design clothing, who knows.

Hello everyone!  I hope all is well.  I am good here, just fighting off a bit of a cold/flu thing, it's just annoying more than anything. 

Just wanted to share this little illustration that I did mostly digital.  I love working with digital images and there is so much I need to learn, but I can do some basic things.  If you are interested in working with your art in say Photoshop or Illustrator, it is really pretty simple to achieve the look I have above.  It's just a matter of pasting other objects into your work, coloring using the paint brush, using the pencil tool and basically just playing around with different functions to create the look you want.  I usually scan my artwork in after painting and usually always have to clean it up, because there is some random thing on my scanner bed, cat hair, dog hair, extra paint, etc.  It seems there is always a little foreign object on my work after I scan.

I also found this place where you can make your own font.  Something I may look into doing more.  Love having original fonts for greeting cards, etc.

Kayla and I are still thinking about starting an online art workshop; so many topics to narrow down to!  I encourage people to take classes from as many people as you can, you will always learn something new.
