If you live in Washington, Oregon or Idaho, you are lucky; if you live away from us, you can hop on Interstate 5 from the south, or Interstate 90 which brings you west from the east.  Then you to can attend all these wonderful shows that are scheduled in our area.

Queen of Tarte has her shows starting now through December

The Tarte shows are located in Oregon City, Oregon, close to Salem.

Then up the road north from Oregon City, you get to meet the Barn House Boys.  Their show opener is May 9.  These two boys have such great style, I love going to their blog to see what they are creating.  Such talent!  They are located in Battle Ground, Wa., which is just a leap from Portland, just next to Vancouver, WA.  I used to live in Vancouver, it is so beautiful there.

 

And most of you know about the Farm Chicks show, which is in Spokane, WA.   It is scheduled for June 6, 7 this year.  I am looking forward to being a vendor again this year.  Last year was so much fun.  Please come and see me in my booth with my sisters and my baby girl. :)  And stop by their blog for their give away!!!

 

I cannot wait to go to the Mary Janes Farm show, and barter and boogie.  How cute is that.  This event is July 3-5, in Moscow, ID.  Can't wait.  :)  I can almost bet there will be some really yummy food at this shindig. 

 

This is one of my favorite events to go to.  I so wish I could be a vendor this year, maybe, we will see, but with Kayla getting married, we have loads of stuff to think about working on, so I may not be able to go this year.  But please, if you are around either July 11, or Sept. 12, please don't miss this show.  You will love it!  The Vintage Barn show is in Rathdrum, Idaho.

I know there are a few more shows going on around our states, but I am not familiar with all of them.  There is the Clayson Farm Antique show in Yakima, WA. Aug 8; and the Country Nesters is held in Tri Cities, to be more specific Richland, Wa. on June 20, and Sept. 19.

So as you can see, we are all about good times here in the Pacific Northwest.  Please come for a visit, and whichever state you go to I can guarantee you will be greeted with open arms, cuz that's how we are up in these parts.  :)

dancing snow and whistling wind

   

The wind was blowing so hard during the night, like screaming, howling blowing.  It had a strength all of its own.   The beating of it woke me up a few times while I was trying to sleep through a restless night.   It had a language that was yelling loudly; whistling at times, but screaming for the most part.  The wind also had a friend playing with it while the stars were lost in darkness; the snow came out to play and swirl and dance around with its friend the wind.

 

The snow dancing with the wind decided it would be fun and artistic to make snow lace on our windows.  Very intricate work these two pals made.  Little specs of snow just stuck there so perfectly with a laced design.   My wish for these two friends, is that they keep traveling north or wherever the wind and snow can play together.  Spring time with dancing flowers and quiet showers needs to play on this playground now. 

 

If you notice in the snow drifts from the first photo, which is right outside our door.  There are a few sweet little footprints in the snow that stopped, they didn't go any further into that sunken snow drift, oh no, they retreated back into warmth and comfort.  A place where you can be safe and sleep away a winter morning and nobody cares if you stick your tongue out at the weather.  Instead you can just sleep and dream of running through a meadow.

You Chicks Rock

You chickies rock!!  Thank you so very much for your sweet kindness, and thanks for thinking I am not a swearin sailor!  :)  I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your tender words.   And speaking of rock; did you guys hear that rockin song at the end of the Oscars last night?  I did a little google-ing this morning and found out it was a Bob Dylan song; so I clicked on it to listen; and clearly that was totally not Bob Dylan who was rockin that song last night.  So I did a little more googalin, and found out it was Beck. :)  So for our rock n roll enjoyment I put it on my song list right at the top.  What else is a swearing sailor, rock n roll girl to do! :)

But still thank you for coming to my little blog and read my ramblings, and thoughts.  In some pretty black and white days you peeps are #1 to me!

 

On those days when everything seeems black & white, you put great color into my life.

My sister was in Seattle recently, and brought me back this fricking (freaking) (not f***ing)awesome mug!  ****See note below***  I really love it.  I really like how it molds your fingers just right for holding on to it.  My very first thing from Anthropologie, isn't that sad.  Definitely one of my very favorite gifts!  :)

 

Then I received this very sweet bag from a sweet friend, and absolutely adore it.  Portia is a master bag maker.  I picked out a pattern from Portabellopixie, and the fabric from Anna Maria Horner's line.  It came out so perfect.  I am not sure if the designers would be thrilled I chose to mix and match their work, but it's the bag I was really after.   Seriously Portia is an excellent sewer and if you are interested in having her whip up a bag for you, she can be contacted through email at:  eckfam@verizon.net

NOTE******Hey guys, got this email this morning, what do you think.   I clarified the word so there is no misunderstandings! :)

Stumbled onto your blog through Dear Daisy Cottage and found it creative and interesting.  Then today I saw the work 'fricking' and I thought of all my 13 year olds' friends using that word in place of the "F" word( and I know your not 13!).    I tell you, it took away from the artistic sort of eclectic design of your blog.  Of course, it's your blog and you can say what ever you like, but for some reason that word kind of hit me in the face in a negative way.  Maybe others felt the same.  Otherwise, great blog!

TOWELS

 

Plumes in a crown hand dyed pink tea towel.  I love the richness of gold on pink.  It has become one of my favorite color combos.  Bottom of towel is adorned with tea stained cotton lace.

 

I really like kitschy things too.  This little rose towel adds to my other kitschy towels.  The rose is from my original artwork.  There is something about red polka dots mixed with roses.  I love it. :)

 

Ahh, the richness of the royal crown.  Together with a pale aqua ruffle this little gold crown with it's royal rich redish pinkish insert mixed with jewels; one of my favorites.  It really brightens up your kitchen with a touch of royalness. 

PILLOWS

 

 

The apothecary pillows.  Each pillow is printed on tea stained fabric and made to look like vintage apothecary style labels.   The graphics are a deep rich chocolate brown and look great on a vintage chair, sofa, or even your bed. 

 

This isn't a new design of pillow, but a new color.  I have finally found my favorite color of pink to use in my designs.  It's that really soft buttery pink.  The same color of pink you would find on a baby oil bottle, or maybe would find on some vintage fabric.  I remember seeing this color of pink in older homes on the walls.  To me it is a very soothing color.  Very pale, muted, vintage looking.  Watch out you will probably see it in other upcoming things I do.  :)

Also another favorite design with a new twist.  A beautiful aqua, robin egg blue color on a lightly tea stained ruffle pillow.  Just sweet. 

 

Something very different is my new peacock pillow.  From my original design.  I love how this just  matches everything in my house.  It goes well with vintage collections, looks great with animal prints, just about everything.  Cute little accent!

I am ill.  I am not happy about being ill.  I am on pain killers and antibiotics.  I am a little skippy happy high from those pain killers too.  So bear with me.  About a year and a half ago I had an ugly flip over the handle bars mountain bike wreck.  I smacked my face on the ground, had a little tooth accident and I sprang my jaw, banged up my knee and hurt my pinky finger.  Now today, this little accident is still haunting me.  My little tooth that got banged up in that ugly wreck, was semi fixed that horrible week; but not fixed good enough.  I have developed an ugly abcess from that poor tooth and now it needs a root canal.  I just want them to pull it.  I don't want it anymore.  It hurts and it is ugly.  But needless to say I am in tremendous amount of pain and have a really ugly gum, that is poisoning me, so I am being a good girl and chugging down those drugs. 

 

On a lighter note; I am getting all my backorders finished, everything will be mailed out Tuesday; and then I can put things in my bare Etsy shop again!  I am making some new things, like this peacock pillow; which is almost finished.  I also have a few new tea towel designs and also the old favorites, plus some apothecary pillow cases. 

 

Look at this cute little baby boy.  My first granddoggie.  Kayla and Tohny got this little fella (Edgar is his name) today for their Valentine present to each other.  Oh I wish I could get a hold of him and give him some grandma love.  He is so cute!!  Can't wait to see him in person. 

What the heck is this???  Wireless reading??  What will they think of next.

my favorite cd's or itunes purchase.   Also I watched Love is a Many Splendored Things, Love Actually, and my very favorite movie ever; the first Romeo & Juliet.  Hope you had a nice, relaxing Valentine day too.  All I was missing were my heart shaped sugar cookies; maybe I will feel better to bake tomorrow.

Now I am pretty groggy and I am pretty sure it will take me 2 seconds to fall asleep.  So I bid you adieu.

Dave is my biggest helper, he is smart, funny, a motor mouth, and always forgiving.  He is 13 years older than me, and we joke sometimes about how he raised me as his own, (sometimes not doing too great of a job), but he is extremely patient with me.  trust me this road hasn't been smooth, but we perservered and all the bruises have been worth it so far.

My Stimulus Package

 

We are smart women and men out there.  We know what we want with that stimulus package that has been floating around our ears in the news.  I am not in agreement with how this administration is going to deal with our horrible problems going on right now, but I do know that I could use a little of that stimulus right now.

 

I just finished not long ago a economics class, and in that book we learned of different economic problems this country has had in the past; and in this situation the country is in, it seems they are going about this the wrong way.  When government spends, which is printing more money, it doesn't work.  So the economic book says.  Now you can have government spending along with lower tax breaks across the board, then it may work better.  Another quick solution to the problem would be to cut payroll taxes, that would float money back into the economy like crazy.   My hubby and I are entrepreneuers, the self employed type, so the stimulus package isn't going to work for us right away.  But a cut in self-employment tax would. :)  

Oh how I could use some of the billions and trillions of dollars they are printing.  My stimulus needs some stimulating too.  I could really use a mortgage bailout; also some infrastructure  money would be great coming my way, I have a 1/4 of a mile road to my house that really could use some rebuiling;  if the government would like to buy up some housing, I know a great real estate broker who could be of great help.  I really do not want a health czar telling me if I am worthy of health care or not.  I say give the American people a cut of that billion, trillion dollar so we can stimulate our economy too.  Just a thought.  We are not all about fluffy pillows and cutesy stuff.   We are the smart ones out there, what do you think would be a good solution?   What and where do you want you tax dollars spent on? 

crafting & my moleskin

 

Saturday my sisters came to my house for a little crafting before we went to see this movie.  And best of all Kayla came home.  That is her little crafted Valentine cake above.

 

This is the beginning of Janet's sweet cake.  We didn't have time to finish the projects so she took hers home and finished it up.  She embellished it with vintage earrings and put a little crown on top.  Then she is spraying glitter all over it.  It is really cute, I saw it yesterday all finished, but didn't have my camera to take a pic.  You will just have to visualize in your mind. ;)

 

This is Rhonda working on her lavender stuffed hearts that she is giving away to people she works with.  They are really cute. 

 

This is me starting something, and ended up with nothing.  I just could not wrap my brain around doing anything; I started doing two different projects and ended up with nothing.  Just one of those days,  I was craft blocked. 

  But my most favorite thing I got this weekend was a beautiful customized moleskin my baby girl made me.  I can't wait to sit quietly and sketch something in my sweet new book.  The page are all crisp and new just waiting for me and my pencil.  I have a million things to do, but in my mind all I am thinking about is sitting down with this little sketchbook.  Thank you Kayla!

All of my wish list goodies can be looked at here, my favorite catalog, but completely out of my budget.  I have to get ideas from it and then try and duplicate it with a cheaper version, like items from Target, Walmart, or try to make it yourself.
