coca-cola * handbag * cake
Kayla and I spent yesterday making this cute little handbag coca-cola cake for my sister's birthday. Unfortuneately we ran out of time because Kayla wanted it to have those "Coach bag" C's on it, but making this cake was quite a process, and FYI, start a cake like this the day before.
But I think the birthday girl liked it okay just how it was. Kayla did the forming of the cake, and this was the first time either of us touched fondant. I think Kayla should do cakes for extra money at college. I bet there are a few college girls who would like a cute cake for their friends? maybe...
I hadn't had a coca-cola cake in years, my mom made one once, I think when I was in high school; they are really good, very moist and taste soo good with buttercream frosting. I made the cake and frosting, Kayla did all of the hard part. It pays to watch those cake decorating shows I tell ya. If she would have had all the essential gadgets, she would have gone nuts with this, like gold for the buckle, and more details, plus she would have cut out little details, and used different colors. Hope you liked it.
Buttercream Frosting:
1/2 cup butter (softened)
1/2 cup shortening
4 cups powdered sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 TBLS milk
Mix all together until creamy.

That cake is amazing! I can't believe it is the first time you guys did it. Happy New Year!!!
