Happiest New Year Wishes

 

Hello, it's me, wanting to pop in and say hello, Happy New Year, and I really wanted to say thank you for all the bountiful blessings you gave me this past year.  I am truly blessed to have such wonderful people helping me along on this journey I have started.  I cannot tell you how thankful I am.   At times, while working on your goodies, I just stand back and say wow, this is pretty cool what you have allowed me to do, it gives me a great smile and sometimes a goose bump or two because I am so happy to be serving you in the way I do.  When one sits quietly through the day working with your hands, you have many chances to reflect and feel grateful for why you are doing what you are doing.  So thank you my dear friends; may your coming year be filled with great hope, love, peace and grace. 

 

This year I can feel some changes coming for me and my pillows and towels.  I have some new things to introduce in the near future, (after I get caught up on my orders, I apologize, I am a little behind, please bear with me), and I am going to switch my blog home to a new one very soon.  My talented techie daughter is working out the kinks for me.  Plus a new website is in the works also.  I do hope you have some new aspirations and inspirations for this upcoming new year too.  Change is always good.

 

And lastly Happy Birthday to my sister Janet!!   I always thought she was so lucky to have her birthday on New Year's eve, at least I think it's pretty cool. 

 

One day your dream will come true, I can hear the ocean calling your name!  Happy Birthday my happy sister, I love you!

pom pom mess & believing

 

Last night I was determined to make pom poms so I could use them for my gift wrapping.  Idea found here.  Anyway, umm, apparently I cannot do a craft that a grade school kid can do.  I attempted to make pom poms from this tutorial, thinking okay that can't be too hard, wrong, it was for me, I couldn't do it. 

 

So I googled super easy yarn pom pom instructions and found this!  Yay, I can do this.  This made sense to me.  Ta-dah, wah-lah, presto, perfect pom poms, well pretty much.  I need to learn to trim better.  I don't think I would be a very good barber.

Now that I can whip them out super fast, and I am in a pom pom making frenzie!  My son asked me please, mom, don't put pom poms on my presents.  Sorry it's gonna happen!  I love them so much better than a bow.

 

I am going to start making these this evening.  I can't wait to sit down and relax and start creating these hand warmers, I bought the pattern for them here.  Although she made hers with cashmere yarn, I am using alpaca yarn, it's just as soft.

MY FAVORITE SONG:  Over on my sidebar, my song list, "A baby changes everything" by Faith Hill.  Kinda made me teary eyed a little. 

Also I am so enjoying all the home tour and cookie makingfun ladies are having out in blogland.  I am going to make up some recipe cards, although I have printed out some from her and her, but want to make some of my own too.  I will share them if they turn out cute. 

My baby girl comes home tomorrow, I am psyched!!!  She is planning on making some mega monster artistic gingerbread house, can't wait to see that.  We are planning on some major cookie baking, and I can almost bet everything I own that she will get on the pom pom for presents crusade with me! 

   

Just wanted to give you an update on shipping goings on from my Etsy shop.  If you have ordered by today, your package should arrive before Christmas. 

Orders placed today and until December 28th, will not be shipped until after December 29th.

I am going to list the bird towel, and theflatware towel, but just wanted you to be aware of the shipping.  ;)  I have received mucho emails requesting the flatware and bird towels, which I am so thrilled about.  I am giving you your choice of towel colors for the birdie towels.  The flatware is on light gray.  Okay, off to my workshop! :) 

Show & Tell

Hi Everyone!

I hope you don't mind a little show & tell time.  I have been busy with a few projects as you all know.  Thought I would share what my day looks like all folded up and nice. :)

 

I had the pleasure of working with Fifi, and her new armoire she re-finished.  Can you believe she asked me to make the panel inserts?  I was very humbled by her asking me.  She is a trend setter when it comes to styling and home decor, so I was thrilled to be asked to make something special for her.  I love how this turned out.  I would love to have one in my home! :)  Fifi knows what she is doing, and using this light grey color has inspired me to make these...

     

   

Fifi sent me an idea to make this type of graphic for a towel.  I really love how they turned out.  They look very French vintage with the slightly tea dyed lace on them, and that color of light grey really adds to a vintage feel.  I think these are my favorite towels yet.  Or maybe I have made so many of the others, they have lost their luster to me.  But I do like this grey color. 

 

Another new towel, a No. 7.  I picked the no. 7 because it seems to be God's favorite number.  If you read the bible number seven is very prevalent in a lot of chapters.  It's also on the vintage grey looking towel. 

 

And this towel, my sweet friends, was a dying mistake.  When doing some aqua towels, this little guy and a few others, turned out this really pretty green color.  I am not sure I can get the exact duplicate again, but please tell me what you think about it.  I love the birds!  :)

   

I really love these pillows one of my customersrs custom ordered.  They are white ruffled with a gold crown.  So very rich looking, I didn't want to send them off. 

Each time I sit down to make something for someone who has ordered something; I feel so blessed to be able to make things and keep my hands and heart busy.  It's a good feeling.  Some of us possess the gift to speak in public, or write books or use their blogs to relay their messages or gifts from God.  Mine is through making things with my hands.  I am not a public speaker, nor a book writer, but I hope my joy for life can come through in my work and art.

feeling like 2nd grade again

 

I remember Christmas time when I was in grade school, always on the last day of school for Christmas vacation we would get to line up and go to the gym to see Santa Claus.  Santa and his helpers always gave us a brown paper bag full of that yummy old fashioned hard candy, oranges and some nuts.  Every year always the same.  I couldn't wait because I love that old fashioned ribbon candy.  Each year that was a big treat for me.  While visiting my daughter, we went to Winco, and there it was in a big huge bin waiting for me to stuff a bag full to bring home.  It just brought back those sweet childhood memories, where something so simple meant so much.  I hope you had some memory like that too.

 

And today, please feel free to call me miss fashionista!  It's negative something outside, I don't know exactly, but when it gets in the negatives it all feels the same cold way.  So I am inside working, with my favorite wool socks and my moccasins.  Best fashion combo ever!  I know, please this could be the next new fashion trend. ;)  May your steps be light today.

starting to feel christmasy

 

I don't want to have to feel rushed for Christmas, but sometimes it feels like we are already being pushed into January.  I am not ready, I want to savor the Christmas feel a wee bit longer.  While doing a bit of decorating yesterday, yes I finally actually laid out some Christmas cheer around here.  But anyway, back on my thinking track...while I was decorating, I all of the sudden felt like organizing every little thing in my home.  It's been severely neglected and it is in a bit of a shambles state.  So in my mind was was organizing cupboards, making new labels for my glass jars that hold brown sugar and pancake flour.  I want to repaint the bathroom and rip up carpet to put down hardwood flooring.  I want all the '08 paper work out the door, filed in it's box and put up in the shelf in the garage.  I love that clean slate for starting a new year.  See, I wouldn't even let myself sit back and get into Christmas, while all the while I am thinking of cleaning and organizing.  I think it was the new Jan. 09 Country Living I received in the mail yesterday, I wasn't ready, I haven't  even read the Dec. 08 issue yet. 

 

I am going to finish trimming the tree today, hopefully and I actually baked some yummy Swedish Sweet Rolls yesterday from the recipe Elaine sent me.  Oh my goodness they are heavenly good!!  Thanks Elaine.  I figured since we were blessed with a bunch of inches of snow yesterday, I would start feeling Chrismasy, but then I have those OCD moments and my mind starts thinking of New Year's.  So I am just going to blast out with holiday music today and stay in the moment.

Let me just give you all a big thank you!  I was left with so many kind comments, it was just really sweet.  My big dilemma in life was I neglected to put into perspective how much time and energy it takes to do a lot of sewing, and also the big mother of them all schoolwork.  As most of you know I am trying to finish up my BA degree in accounting/finance/business, and this week is finals week.  So needless to say I overloaded myself with making towels, artwork, etc., and trying to study.  I was in a foggy mess until I stepped back and tried not to do it all, asked for some help for my wonderful family and got my priorities straight.  Thank you my dear friends for all of your kindness, it helps me to get out of my fog and remember I am living in more of heaven then anything.

 

 

See, doesn't look like I live in heaven?  Yesterday we were covered in fog, but where I live we were up above it, so it felt like I was in heaven, floating on the clouds, it was really beautiful, because we had sunshine and below us was all white.  Today we are bracing for a big snow storm.  It hasn't started yet, but looks like it is on its way.  Wishing you have a little peace of heaven in your lives today too!

My husband and I owned and operated a drive thru espresso business for over 10 years, and I always loved this time of the year making fun festive drinks.  I wanted to share some recipes so when you visit your favorite latte shop you can try one of these drinks.

Snowball  Latte:  Coconut & Vanilla Syrup

Candy Cane:  Peppermint & Vanilla Syrup

Eggnog Rum Latte:  Eggnog latte with a few shots of Butterrum syrup

Pumpkin Spice Latte:  Pumpkin spice syrup with cinnamon

Gingerbread Man Latte:  White chocolate (powder) & gingerbread syrup

Peppermint Patty Mocha:  Peppermint & Chocolate (Hershey's please) syrups

White Chocolate (powder) & Raspberry Latte:  YUM

Angel Mocha:  White chocolate & Vanilla

Butter Rum Latte:  (probably hard to find places that actually use butter rum batter, but that is what we used)  the best!
