Listen to the Surf

Surf

I wish my bags were packed and we were ready to go the sea to listen to the surf.  Not yet, not now anyway, but soon hopefully.  We are approaching our 25th wedding anniversary; and have been trying to figure out exactly what to do for it.  My heart-strings are pulling me towards the ocean and I am pretty sure my husband is feeling the same way.   I have to admit 25 years seems to have flown by, but then there are times when it feels like it's been a long slow process.  One of my very favorite books of all times is Gift from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh.  Her writing explains it all about relationships, learning to live through ebb-tides and how to take the trough of a wave.  And trust me after 25 years, there are a lot of waves.

"Security in a relationship lies neither in looking back to what it was in nostalgia, nor forward to what it might be in dread or anticipation, but living in the present relationship and accepting it as it is now"   ~Anne Morrow Lindbergh.

This is where we are.  Accepting it as it is now.  In this book you will find yourself in it trust me.

Art:

My daughter'snew piece.  Which I have fallen in love with.  It's titled "Shapeshifter".  Ravens are symbols of shape shifters and blending humans and animal, and they are often the main character in traditional Native American tales.   I love her surreal painting style.

This is one of those beautiful things that have come out of those 25 years.

And please go visit The Vintage Barn!

Oh, you MUST do something to celebrate the 25 years together! My husband and I celebrated 20 years last year cruising along the Danube and Rhine rivers from Budapest to Amsterdam for 16 wonderful days in July and August. The ship only had 140 passengers and we stopped in so many wonderful places. It was a chance for us to get away from EVERYTHING and get back in touch with other. Not many people these days can say they've been together for 25 years....you have something special....celebrate it! Happy Friday.....~Allie

Wow - 25 years! That's wonderful! I love A Gift from the Sea - I think you need to read it at many different points in your life and will get something different out of it each time. What a talented daughter you have!!

Absolutely! Love ravens too. And I need to go order that book.
Brenda

The ocean is always calling my name...I can hear it now...and long to be there...hope you and your husband plan something simply divine for your 25th.
