Listening

Music

If I didn't have my music, it would be hard to get through the day.  Music can give such great inspiration and take you to a different place, almost like reading a book.  I really enjoy listening to french music, especially when working on art.  And also I go here and listen to Starbucks radio; then switch back and forth between 70's music and various other stations.  Then of course there is the trusting ever favorite iTunes store; where I have a extraordinary habitual disease of buying music.  It's my addiction, yes, I admit it , my name is Teresa and I am an addictive music downloader.   Recently as in yesterday I have purchased this and her.  And the soundtrack to this movie.  Which has Charles Trenet one of my favorite vintage french singers.  Honestly my list goes on and on, we could be here all day sorting through my albums like the olden days, when you actually had an album.  I could look at album covers and spin the record all day.  I have so many retro albums in storage, I can't imagine ever getting rid of them.  And don't forget the 45's!!  I seriously think while I am out scouting yard sales and second hand stores this season I will be on the lookout for a sweet hi-fi!!  Share some of your favorite tunes with me!!  **smiles**

Oh by the way  my baby and me are diligently working on some illustrations.  Can you tell?  There is a little rough draft we are working on now!

Workspace

Honestly if she starts to pick up a pencil other than to swat it around and starts drawing, we are out of here and I am taking her on the road!   After reading an article in Artful Blogger publication, about Marisa Haedike who created Creative Thursday has inspired me to stretch my wings a bit.  I think doing a painting a day (mon-fri) no weekends and put them up for sale; that would be a great challenge for me, and I am ready to start.  Not saying today, but soon.  Even if I don't put it up for sale, it really lets your portfolio grow and your mind and abilities would also grow as an artist.  This is just something I feel I need to do, well at least today, it could change tomorrow.  Love creative outlets!!

Alone in the Drivers Seat

Steering_wheel_3

I have never been one to work for someone else, most always I have started my own businesses or like now I am at home creating.  Once taking the time to discover that all I really want to do is make art and create I have felt a great sense of contentment.  The hardest part is the isolation being in your drivers seat alone, steering through the day with just you and no passengers.  Disciplining myself to create daily is sometimes a difficult task.  You are in your mind a lot, thinking and dreaming.  There isn't much chit chat during the day with other people, usually through emails, but not hearing spoken words.  I don't know how many of you have chosen this path, and how you drive through your day alone.  Alot of you probably still have young ones at home, which makes a big huge difference.  I miss those days, they seem so simple and lovely and busy.  This time in my life is a complete new beginning.  Taking art seriously, not just a hobby, and molding into a new person; one that feels secure doing what I am doing and finishing through with ideas and completing deadlines.  I will however be totally excited when our Starbucks opens, it will be nice to just sit amongst people and hear mild chatter.  Are you in the drivers seat alone?  I would love to hear what creative/at home entrepreneur women do to stay stimulated in  your isolated world.

My little contest I posted the other day, is over, and I picked 3 winners, which each person will get one of the little ATC's.  The winners are:

Kim

Joyce

Julie

Thanks to those who left such sweet comments, and I will email the winners and tell them which little french poodle they won!  Oh and I love the names that were picked for them, I did choose Kim as the name winner, so Kim you will get a little something extra along with the ATC.  So here are the girls with their new names.

Lastly, Mandy ~ Herbgirl tagged me to list 7 random things about myself.  I think I played this before, but it could have been a different one.  Anyway, I will play again, it's all fun!!

biggest softest heart for animals you have ever seen, i self teach myself to do most things (piano, art, guitar, sewing, knitting), can't decide whether I am a democrat or a republican, hmm would that make me independent?  my son says I am a control freak, my husband said I am bull-headed, small town girl, i have a cat named "boyfriend", and i am short.

Okay, tag you are it, if you want to play along.  Have a great Sunday!
